The Problem:

Women just starting out in their careers face a multitude of issues, from a lack of equal pay and job opportunities to a lack of access to mentors and other resources. In the United States, white women earn 83 cents for every dollar earned by men in similar positions. The wage gap is even more pronounced for minority women, with Black and Hispanic women earning 79 to 80 cents for every dollar earned by men. The compound effect over the length of a woman’s career creates an economic disparity that can be difficult to overcome.

Women are also disproportionately impacted by family care responsibilities such as childcare or caring for aging family members, which further limits their ability to advance in their career path. Whether by choice or necessity, many women have chosen to stay at home to provide a consistent and stable environment for their children and families. If or when those women want to reenter the workforce, they face an uphill battle to find meaningful employment.

Additionally, women often have less access to networking opportunities and professional mentors compared to their male counterparts, making it difficult for them to rise up in their fields or gain the skills needed for desired positions. These challenges create an environment where many aspiring women feel discouraged and overwhelmed while trying to progress in their careers.

The Solution:

The solution is simple: invest in the future of women

Creating training, mentorship opportunities, and access to a powerful network is an invaluable solution to these challenges. By providing resources to promote professional skill development and career advancement, we create a space where female professionals have the opportunity to pursue their passions and reach their full potential. Investing in these programs is an invaluable way of creating a future with greater possibilities for professional women.

Announcing the #FollowFriday Creating the Future Together Scholarship + Mentorship Program

Our Creating the Future Together scholarship and mentorship program is dedicated to providing women with up-skill resources, industry connections, and access to mentors in order to foster career growth.

We aim to provide a platform for women starting out in their career, as well as stay-at-home parents looking to reenter the workforce. The #FollowFriday International Women’s Day conference is a place where talented female professionals at all levels can access resources, build critical networking relationships, and gain valuable skills and knowledge to help close this gender wage gap. The program also provides an opportunity for these women entering or reentering the professional sphere to attend a conference hosted by and for professional women, as well as receive mentorship from experienced female leaders in various industries such as finance, technology/startups/venture capital, banking & insurance; engineering; marketing & communications; legal & compliance etc.

Furthermore, funds will be provided to cover costs related to speaker fees, travel expenses for panelists/scholarships for recipients of these programs as well as develop digital platforms for connection and communication.

By providing these resources, we hope to create a vibrant community where talented female professionals can share best practices, build relationships with like-minded peers, and unlock their full potential while eliminating existing gender biases in the workforce and closing the wage gap between genders.
