By now, you’ve probably heard of “the butterfly effect.” It’s the idea that small things can have an unexpected impact on something seemingly unrelated.
My conversation with Michelle Friends for #FollowFriday centered heavily on the concept of the butterfly effect: The things we do today affect tomorrow in ways we could have never predicted.
Michelle’s professional journey is a story of knowing when to trust your gut and appreciating that today’s action may have a future impact.
Currently Executive Director at Fairfield and Woods, P.C., Michelle has established a niche in legal operations and marketing by being a professional people respect and like to work with.
Michelle shared three truly sage nuggets with me learned through her career experience:
❗️ Never burn a bridge. It’s ok (and important!) to try new things. As you move on to the next adventure, be sure to leave with grace and appreciation for all you’ve learned along the way. You never know when you want to cross that bridge again.
❗️ Pay it forward. Helping others personally and professionally is the right thing to do.
❗️ Above all else: as a leader it is our job to help create an environment where our staff is able to feel fulfilled and enjoy the work they do. Create an environment of learning and development where people can thrive. Of course the opportunity is theirs to seize, and our responsibility to foster.
I’m so thankful to Andrew Laver for nominating his good friend and Legal Marketing Association colleague Michelle for my FollowFriday series!
Meet my new friend Michelle. She is an empathetic leader.
